28 June 2004 The Public Exhibitions will include detailed information about the proposals and members of CDL’s professional team will be on hand to answer questions from local residents. The exhibitions take place at: 11
Corporation Street, Corby Town Centre, Alfred Buller, from Corby Developments Limited, said: “We have had a very positive response from local people so far and we hope more will be able to come along to the exhibitions to see the plans for themselves. “Before submitting our application, we talked to a number of local groups and we incorporated many of their ideas into the proposals. “We think the design is well thought out and will bring many benefits to Corby.” The Priors Hall proposals are in line with Catalyst Corby’s Regeneration Framework, which sets out ambitious growth targets for the town. A representative from Catalyst Corby will be in attendance at the exhibition in Corby between 10.30-noon on Friday 9th July, in Deene between 4-6pm on Thursday 15th July, and in Weldon between 10am-noon on Saturday 17th July. The Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Willie Smith commented, "This is a major application that could bring many benefits to Corby and its residents. We are delighted with the efforts Corby Developments is making to consult with and involve local people and businesses in their application." Bob Lane, Chief Executive of Catalyst Corby added, “The public exhibitions provide an excellent opportunity for local people to see the plans for the Priors Hall sustainable extension for themselves and comment on the proposals. A Catalyst Corby representative will be on hand to explain how this key development will transform Corby through balanced growth, creating a sustainable future for the borough with new jobs, new schools and a whole new community.” The Priors Hall site covers nearly 400 hectares (950 acres) in total and has been disused for over twenty years. It was formerly an ironstone quarry. Following the closure of the Steelworks in 1982, planning permission was given for the Wonderworld Themepark, but this was never built.
